Kristen Petrov is a PhD student at Western Sydney University and is studying the decline and ecology of the Bellinger River Snapping turtle. Prior to undertaking her PhD, Kristen received a Bachelor of Natural Science (Animal Science) from Western Sydney University and began researching the ecology of freshwater turtles while undertaking her Bachelor of Science- Honours. Kristen’s current research focuses on the remaining Bellinger River turtle population, its overlap in diet and habitat with the non-native short-necked turtle, and the susceptibility of freshwater turtles to disease.
