AAVAC is pleased to announce that our 2017 conference will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from Tuesday 28 November to Thursday 30 November 2017. This will be followed by the NZ Veterinary Association’s Wildlife Society Annual Conference from Friday 1 December to Sunday 3 December 2017.
Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city in the north of New Zealand’s North Island, is based around two large harbours and has a population of 1.415 million (2016). In the centre, the iconic Sky Tower has views of Viaduct Harbour, which contains super-yachts and is lined with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park, is based around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Near Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade. Auckland is a city unlike any other. With incredible natural wonders on its doorstep, wherever you will find something special. The city centre’s world-class shopping, restaurants, bars and galleries are encircled by wine regions, stunning beaches, pristine rainforest and the magnificent Hauraki Gulf. The average November temperatures for Auckland are 13-190C (55-610F).
Only a short three-hour flight from Australia’s eastern coast, New Zealand is one of the safest travel destinations in the world, with Auckland rated the third most liveable city in the world on the global Mercer Quality of Life Survey. European, Polynesian, Asian and strong Maori heritages give the Auckland its distinctive culture. Kiwis are friendly, free-spirited and welcoming. With a high respect for human rights and equality, our travel experiences can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages and cultures.
The conference will be held at Rydges Auckland, 59 Federal Street, Cnr Kingston Street, Auckland CBD 1010. New Zealand’s premiere Auckland accommodation is a vibrant mix of London sophistication, Sydney cool and New York style. The trademark warm Kiwi hospitality is an added bonus at Rydges Auckland Hotel.
