Welcome to Phnom Penh!
It is our great pleasure to host the 12th annual meeting of the Asian Society of Conservation Medicine (ASCM) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Veterinary medicine in Cambodia is still in the cradle stage, and we are making efforts to develop it with international collaboration. Our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine established in December 2012. The 6 (4+2) year program of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree complies with standards set by OIE Day 1 Competencies and OIE Core Curriculum Guideline has been starting to implement by the academic year 2015-2016. This is the first program offered in Cambodia, while other higher education institutions offer only one curriculum for a four-year program (BSc.) for animal production and health or animal science and veterinary medicine. With this regard, faculty is facing many challenges in term of human resources and facilities. Conservation medicine will be our field of challenge among others.
This annual meeting will be an excellent opportunity for us to initiate collaboration among ASCM members. Our collaboration will contribute to the building of our faculties and the development of veterinary science in this country.
We hope all the participants will enjoy experiencing our traditional Khmer culture and enjoy our food and drinks.
