Dr. Bryn Lynar – Volunteer

Having enjoyed working on his family’s sheep farm in his teens, Bryn decided on a career in animal husbandry, completing a B Agr in 1974 and BVSc in 1978.

After a year’s work in Double Bay and a year travelling in Europe, Bryn and his wife moved to the country to work in Canberra and Young before settling in Bathurst in a large, mixed animal practice for 10 years. There, as well as raising three boys, he developed an interest in orthopaedic surgery, bird and wildlife medicine. He helped start the new Central West Branch of WIRES before returning to Sydney in 1992 to join Pittwater Animal Hospital.

After purchasing the practice in 1995 Bryn continued to expand the hospital and worked there until retirement in 2018. Since retirement he has volunteered with Dad’s Army at Wakehurst Golf course, the Sydney Wildlife Mobile Care Unit and the Australian Registry of Wildlife Health. Bryn continues to enjoy caring for his grandchildren and pursuing his hobbies of bushwalking, mountain biking, golf, kayaking, and art.
