Karina Hammond – Volunteer

Karina is a Technical Officer at the Brain and Mind Centre where she examines brains of the deceased to help determine cause of death for the Coroner.  The Brain and Mind Centre are also involved in research in degenerative brain diseases, brain Cancer studies and are the Australian Sports Brain Bank (ASBB).

Karina has a BSc in Biology,  Ass. Diploma in Pathology and Graduate Diploma in Forensic Studies.

She has volunteered at Taronga Zoo as Zoo Keeper (Taronga Institute of Science and Learning) since 2018, and has volunteered with the Registry since 2020.  Karina also volunteers for WIRES as a rescuer and carer.

Outside of work she likes to get out amongst nature, hiking and biking, especially in the Snowy Mountains.
